Burkina Faso: An Orientation Council to adopt the Patriotic Support Funds’project
The Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambèla chaired on the third of April 2023, the inaugural session of the Orientation Council of the Patriotic Support Fund in Ouagadougou. During the council, it was revealed that more than 7 billion CFA francs had been raised in less than two months for the benefit of the funds in order to strengthen the fight against terrorism. According to the head of government, this mobilization of Burkinabe shows that our country has the means for its policy.
Burkinabe’s government has created a Patriotic Support Fund to support and accompany the action of volunteers for the defense of the country. This fund is estimated at 100 billion CFA francs. The government has also stated that the establishment of this fund should contribute to achieving two major missions: restoring and strengthening security throughout the national territory and providing an urgent, effective and efficient response to the humanitarian crisis.
The creating of this fund aims at having an adequate instrument for collecting and centralizing financial contributions from patriots and friends of Burkina Faso in order to support and accompany defense and security efforts on the territory. In order to ensure total transparency of the Patriotic Support Fund, a governance system is established, based on two bodies: the orientation council and the management committee.
«We must work together for the proper functioning of the governance bodies, giving priority to rigor in the management of this fund», said the Head of Government, Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambèla. This first-of-its-kind council will mainly focus on the examination and adoption of the project report for the operationalization of the fund and the allocation of resources to beneficiaries, he added
Furthermore, Captain Ibrahim Traoré expressed his satisfaction to the persons of goodwill who have already made spontaneous contributions to support the actions undertaken by the government.
