Burkina Faso and Mali/ Historic Step: Burkina Faso and Mali cement their Friendship and Cooperation during the 10th Session of the Joint Commission
The 10th session of the joint cooperation commission between Burkina Faso and Mali concluded on August 7th, 2023. Three days of friendly discussions led to the signing of numerous cooperation agreements in various fields, strengthening the ties between the two countries.
Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabes Abroad, expressed her pride in the positive outcomes achieved and the spirit of fraternity that marked the exchanges.
Among the 27 proposed agreements examined, 24 were successfully concluded. These agreements endorse diverse sectors, contributing to the development of both nations.
Diplomats highlighted that this enhanced cooperation addresses crucial issues such as counterterrorism, humanitarian crisis management, development of border areas, as well as sectors like agriculture, livestock, and infrastructure.
A key point is the decision to establish a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (TFC), symbolizing the commitment of both countries to collaborate in promoting peace, regional prosperity, and addressing common challenges.
The session concluded positively, announcing the next step of the 11th session in 2025 in Ouagadougou.
This close collaboration promises a promising future for bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and Mali, with enduring mutual benefits for their peoples and the region.
