Burkina Faso: At the assessment of the Patriotic Support Fund.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security, Colonel Boukaré ZOUNGRANA, participated, in Ouagadougou, in the 2nd ordinary session of the Steering Council of the Patriotic Support Fund. The meeting was devoted to the review and adoption of the draft communication management report and operational plan.

During the second regular session, it emerged that as of June 2, 2023, the amount of collections, from all sources combined, stands at twenty billion seven hundred fifty-two million five hundred seventy-four thousand six hundred ninety-five (20,752,574,695) CFA francs.

According to the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Prospective, Dr. Aboubakar NACANABO, this amount represents an increase of 164% compared to the collection situation in the previous session.

Dr. Aboubakar NACANABO expressed his gratitude to all Burkinabè who mobilized to collect these resources in support of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who are doing an excellent job in reclaiming the territory alongside the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).

From his perspective, the Burkinabè people have truly rallied for the cause of their country, demonstrating their ability to unite around what is essential, which is saving the nation. He thanked them and encouraged them to continue because the need is still present.

Regarding future prospects, Minister NACANABO emphasized that the government does not intend to increase taxes but rather optimize the existing collections and strengthen control measures.

This second session of the Patriotic Support Fund’s Orientation Council primarily focused on examining and adopting the management report and the operational communication plan, as well as allocating resources to beneficiaries.

The agenda allowed for an evaluation of the Fund’s implementation, discussion of encountered difficulties, and formulation of directions in line with government priorities.
