Burkina Faso: Call for action against stateless individuals dowing discord between Ouagadougou and Abidjan

The growing wave of attacks on social media against the authorities of Burkina Faso, orchestrated by Burkinabe exiles residing in Côte d’Ivoire, has sparked strong outrage. These stateless individuals are exploiting social media platforms in an attempt to destabilize the relations between the two countries.

Several African observers are urging Ivorian authorities to take firm action against these mafioso-like behaviors. They are calling on Côte d’Ivoire’s cybercrime authorities to identify and neutralize those who are trying to sow discord. These calls highlight the importance of maintaining stability and harmony between the two nations, historically bonded by fraternal ties.

By failing to take measures against these attacks, Ivorian authorities risk fostering an atmosphere of distrust and unnecessary tension. However, concrete actions, such as the strict enforcement of laws against hate speech and subversive rhetoric, could quickly de-escalate the situation.

To ensure peace and regional cooperation, it is essential that both countries commit to protecting their bilateral relations. Neutralizing these malicious acts would not only strengthen the ties between Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire but also serve as a model for African solidarity in the face of both external and internal divisions.
