Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim TRAORE’s patriotism is a source of pride for the people of Burkina Faso

The patriotism of the President of the Transition, Head of State, and of his collaborators is reflected on a daily basis in concrete and salutary acts. Since coming to power after the coup d’etat of 30 September 2022, Captain Ibrahim Traore has always shown his love for his country and his commitment to nationalising the assets belonging to the country.

From the break with France, especially in terms of security and diplomacy, to the requisitioning of mining plants and many other public structures and the termination of certain contracts with foreigners, to self-defence and self-sufficiency initiatives, Ibrahim Traore’s transition has amply demonstrated his determination to make Burkina Faso a free country that enjoys its own property.

A country where the people live with dignity and are proud of their nation, their identity, their culture and their values. Only a patriot, an individual who has a great love for his country and who feels indebted solely to his homeland, can act in the manner of Ibrahim TRAORE and his government.

Another strong and commendable act by Captain Ibrahim TRAORE is the recognition of the former President of Faso, President of the National Council for the Revolution (CNR), the late Captain Isidore Noël Thomas SANKARA, as a hero of the nation and all that goes with the tribute to the father of the revolution.

The decision to rename the boulevard Charles De Gaulle is yet another patriotic act in the country’s march towards total sovereignty. It is a decision that is greatly appreciated by the people of Faso. As of 15 October, the 36th anniversary of the assassination of Thomas SANKARA and his 12 companions, the capital Ouagadougou’s longest avenue (32.767 km) will cease to be known as boulevard Charles De Gaulle.

It will now bear the name of the national hero, Thomas SANKARA, as requested and demonstrated in 2017 by civil society organisations during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron. Ibrahim TRAORE’s transition has a great vision for his country and for the people of Burkina Faso. It deserves to be supported and protected against its enemies.
