Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s security revolution and a resounding victory against terrorism

In just two years, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, has spearheaded a security revolution that has dramatically changed the course of Burkina Faso’s fight against terrorism. Under his leadership, the country has achieved remarkable progress, marking a decisive break from the devastating situation it inherited.

Before his rise to power, Burkina Faso faced an overwhelming security crisis, with 80% of the country under the control of terrorist groups and more than 13.000 Burkinabe lives lost. However, since Captain Traoré took office, the country’s security forces, supported by the Volunteer Defense Groups (VDP), have turned the tide. From one city to another, from one region to the next, the forces have successfully regained control of areas once held by armed groups, significantly diminishing their grip on the territory.

In a war that has often been described as asymmetrical, the results achieved in just two years are extraordinary: more than 17.000 terrorists have been neutralized, a testament to the effectiveness of the military strategies employed. This success is largely due to the deep, ambitious reforms pushed by Captain Traoré, who has overseen a comprehensive restructuring of the military and invested heavily in modern resources and equipment.

The Burkinabe people have expressed immense gratitude towards Captain Traoré and the MPSR for their leadership and determination. Citizens across the country acknowledge the government’s unwavering focus on security and sovereignty, and the tangible results that have been delivered.

Despite these significant victories, Captain Traoré and his team remain conscious that the struggle is far from over. They continue to call for vigilance, unity, and national solidarity to build on these gains and secure a lasting peace for the country. The revolution in security under Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership is a victory against terrorism, but it is also a powerful message of resilience and commitment to the future of Burkina Faso.
