The historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Republic of Chad are set to experience a revitalization under the leadership of Presidents Ibrahim TRAORE and Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. For some observers, the recent events between the two brotherly African nations signal a strategic rapprochement.

Indeed, the Chadian president, at the invitation of his Burkinabe counterpart, was in Ouagadougou last weekend to attend the opening ceremony of the 29th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO). This major cultural event, for which Chad is the guest of honor, was an ideal occasion for strengthening ties between the two countries and potentially between Chad and the AES Confederation.

His stay in Ouagadougou was marked by several events, including a private meeting between the two presidents followed by a discussion between the delegations of both countries. At the heart of the discussions were bilateral relations and the need to strengthen ties to better serve the aspirations of their peoples. With both Burkina Faso and Chad facing similar security and socio-economic challenges, observers believe that close cooperation between the two nations would be highly beneficial.

This shared vision is embodied by the two heads of state, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. Concerned for the future of their countries, they are committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure the sovereignty, true independence, and effective, sustainable development of their nations. Consequently, the announcement of the upcoming convening of a joint commission aims to further reinforce the framework of cooperation and to take concrete actions toward achieving their shared goals.
