Burkina Faso : Combat forces neutralize several terrorists and seize equipment in Koulpélogo Province

Burkina Faso’s security authorities reported that an operation conducted by combat forces resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists in the Ouargaye region, located in the Koulpélogo province. This action, which occurred on Monday, February 5, 2024, also led to the recovery of combat equipment, according to sources from the Burkina Information Agency (AIB).

The events unfolded when terrorist elements launched an attack on a position of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Koogo, near Ouargaye. Showing exemplary courage, the security forces repelled the assault, forcing the assailants to retreat.

However, this retreat was not without consequences for the terrorists. Air forces were deployed to track and intercept the fleeing individuals. At Welgiemsifou, three kilometers from Koogo, pilots patiently awaited the arrival of the terrorists. Once on-site, a missile was used to effectively target the group, thereby inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

Some members of the gang attempted to escape on foot, abandoning their motorcycles in their flight. However, they were quickly apprehended by security forces, thus putting an end to the threat.

This incident underscores the ongoing commitment of Burkinabe combat forces to maintain peace and security in the region and across the entire Burkinabe territory. Currently, operations are actively ongoing to eliminate any potential threat and restore a climate of stability in the Koulpélogo province and beyond.
