The annual session of the Consultation Framework for the Control Bodies of Administrative Order began on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Ouagadougou. Presided over by the State Controller General, Lassané Compaoré, this five-day meeting is being held under the theme: “Role and Responsibility of the Control Bodies of Administrative Order in the Operation of the Regulatory Commission for Malfunctions”. This theme is part of a strategic approach aimed at improving public management and strengthening control mechanisms.
Established by Decree No. 2011-700/PRES/PM on September 26, 2011, this consultation framework aims to coordinate the actions of various control structures, harmonize their intervention methods, and promote the application of international standards in auditing and control. The discussions during this annual session aim to optimize the coverage of public entities and enhance collaboration between regulatory actors. Lassané Compaoré reminded that the main mission of the control bodies is to ensure the integrity of the administrative system. “Their role is not limited to verification and report writing. They ensure the proper functioning of institutions by ensuring compliance with existing laws and regulations”, he emphasized.
The opening ceremony was marked by the performance of the national anthem, Ditanyè, followed by several speeches. Over the five days, participants will have the opportunity to explore key topics such as the characterization and documentation of management faults, tools and techniques for causal analysis, as well as the enforcement of financial and disciplinary responsibility for public agents. These discussions will help identify the root causes of malfunctions and propose sustainable solutions.
The National Strategy for the Prevention and Fight Against Corruption will also be a central topic of debate. Adama Paré, head of the audit and control department of ASCE-LC, reminded that the fight against corruption is a long-term struggle that requires collective responsibility. “An efficient information system is essential to significantly reduce corruption and sanitize the public administration”, he stated.
This annual session is set to be a key moment for strengthening coordination and improving the effectiveness of regulatory mechanisms in Burkina Faso. The conclusions that will result are expected to foster new dynamics in public governance.
