Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: President Ibrahim TRAORE announces acceleration of military operations

On Monday, November 4, 2024, the President of Faso and head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, addressed his fellow citizens during the traditional flag-raising ceremony. Regarding the ongoing fight against terrorism, which has intensified this year, the president, in agreement with the national army, which is engaged and determined, outlined plans for even more accelerated and intensified operations in response to the pressures observed in October.

During his address, the head of state praised the bravery, professionalism, and selflessness demonstrated by the combat forces throughout the month, which contributed to significant results on the battlefield. According to President Ibrahim Traoré, it is more crucial than ever to intensify the fight in order to completely eradicate these criminals who persist in their terrorist actions against the Burkinabe people.

That being said, the authorities remain steadfast in their efforts. On the contrary, new measures are being taken and reinforced daily to continue and accelerate military actions at the frontlines. Among these measures is the ongoing acquisition of appropriate equipment to effectively address the challenges that arise in this priority sector. As part of the military equipment plan, the authorities are stepping up efforts to further increase the capabilities of combat units.

The president’s commitment to continuing the acquisition of military hardware was reaffirmed on November 1 by the Minister of Defense, during the commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the Burkinabe Armed Forces. Like the head of state, the national armed forces remain engaged and determined to free the country from the hands of these criminals and their collaborators.
