Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: The efforts of the defence and security forces recognized and praised
In Burkina Faso, Selflessness, commitment, courage, determination, resilience, and professionalism are among the qualities of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), demonstrated daily on the battlefield, facing the enemy. These valiant fighters remain steadfast in their mission despite adversity, thereby enabling the country to regain peace, stability, and complete security.
It is these patriotic efforts that the Nation honors through official distinctions. According to reports, 43 agents from the Ministry of Defense were awarded the Order of the Etalon and 112 others were awarded the Order of Burkina Faso Merit on Monday, December 9, 2024. In total, 155 fighters were decorated by the Ministry of Defense, in recognition of their sacrifice and service to the Nation.
They received medals as Grand Officers, Commanders, Officers, and Knights for their years of selflessness in service to the nation, according to reports. The former Minister of Defense, who presided over the decoration ceremony, stated that the recipients are active FDS members and retirees “who stood out for their well-done work and numerous sacrifices made in the performance of their duties”.
He also mentioned that these distinctions will continue in various military regions of Burkina Faso. It is also a way to encourage those still in active service to redouble their efforts to achieve the objectives, notably the liberation of the country from the terrorist scourge and its promoters, and to ensure the real independence of the land of upright men.
