On Friday, February 14, 2025, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, presented the report on the implementation of her 2024 performance contract. With an impressive achievement rate of 90.4%, the results reflect significant progress in the digital transformation of Burkina Faso.

One of the key accomplishments of 2024 was the expansion of digital coverage through the Universal Service Access Fund. More than 130 communities in remote areas are being connected, with several already served. This initiative aims to reduce the digital divide and provide equitable access to digital services, even in the most isolated regions.

The national government network (RESINA) was rehabilitated, enabling the interconnection of over 100 administrative buildings and improving connectivity in eight regional capitals. Additionally, the construction of two data centers is progressing well, with a completion rate of 70%. These infrastructures will enhance data storage and processing capacity, which is crucial for supporting the country’s digital transformation.

The digitization of administrative services has made significant strides, with several platforms now operational and the gradual introduction of electronic signatures, which is expected to be completed by 2025. On the legislative front, major advances have been made, including the adoption of laws on information system security and electronic unique identification.

For 2025, the minister announced the completion of the data centers, the connection of an additional 500 localities, and the acceleration of digitalization efforts. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to consolidate these achievements and use digital transition as a tool for socio-economic development.
