Burkina Faso/Economy: Captain Ibrahim TRAORE’s ambitions are gradually taking shape
Determined to ensure the development of his country on all fronts and to make it economically independent, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE does not rest until his dream is realized. He is doing everything possible to make this happen, as he promised his fellow citizens.
Following the launch of construction work for the local tomato processing plant on September 23rd, as part of community entrepreneurship for endogenous development, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE today launches other construction projects.
This involves the construction of a gold refinery for local processing, aimed at refining raw gold before exportation. Situated in Ouaga 2000, south of the capital of Burkina Faso, this gold refinery is part of the numerous initiatives taken by the transitional government to better capitalize on its mining potential.
This initiative also aligns with the vision of the transitional president, aiming to ensure that the exploitation of natural resources is carried out by Burkinabé themselves, in order to gain more financial resources to fund the development of their beloved homeland.
The Faso refinery allows the state to optimize revenue related to gold mining in the country, which has seen an increase since 2021. According to authorities, gold contributed 430.916 billion CFA francs to the state budget in 2021 and saw an increase of 110.068 billion CFA francs in 2022, totaling 540.984 billion CFA francs.
Another objective pursued by the transitional authorities, led by Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, through the establishment of a gold refinery, is to combat fraud in artisanal and semi-mechanized exploitation, according to an official statement.
