Burkina Faso/Economy: Presidential initiative on community entrepreneurship under way
The Community Entrepreneurship Program through Popular Shareholding, born from the desire of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, to ensure endogenous and inclusive development, is underway. Since its launch in June 2023, this presidential initiative has enjoyed massive support from Burkinabe citizens and is now making the ambitions of the President of Faso a reality.
To recap, this program aims to create various types of businesses across Burkina Faso through the actions of BurkinabE citizens, with the goal of economic development and youth employment. A few months after the start of construction on the first factory of this initiative, which is a tomato processing plant, a second factory will soon be established.
This second project is a semi-mechanized gold mining unit, whose construction began on Thursday, July 4, 2024, initiated by the President of Faso’s Chief of Staff. It is clear that Captain Ibrahim TRAORE’s commitment to the economic sovereignty of his country is yielding tangible results.
According to information, this gold mining factory, located in the commune of Midebdo, Noumbiel Province, in the South-West region, is expected to be operational in eight (8) months and will be in operation for five (5) years, extendable based on potential. Meanwhile, the construction of the tomato processing plant is progressing, and the first products are expected by September or the end of the year.
One factory is expected to employ 100 young job seekers directly and create over 5.000 indirect jobs, while the other anticipates about 150 direct jobs and 350 indirect jobs. The presidential initiative, under the enlightened leadership of Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, is a true mechanism for socio-economic development and reducing the unemployment rate.
