Burkina Faso / Employment and Infrastructure: The Local Development Drive Led by President Ibrahim Traoré
President Ibrahim Traoré’s local development policy continues to garner admiration for its tangible and beneficial outcomes for the population. It precisely addresses local needs, creating employment opportunities and improving infrastructure. The recent launch of the government’s 2024 social measures, notably the “Labor-Intensive Road Works Program”, is a clear example of this.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc SORGHO, in collaboration with the Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, Mikaïlou SIDIBE, and the Governor of the Centre-South, Massadolo Yvette NACOULMA (born SANOU), inaugurated the program in Manga. Designed to boost community development, the program aims to provide temporary jobs in the municipalities of Koudougou, Ziniaré, Banfora, Gaoua, and Manga.
This innovative program, part of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development, is expected to generate around 800 temporary jobs for road workers (brigadiers) in these five municipalities. By creating employment opportunities in the infrastructure sector, President Ibrahim Traoré’s government is addressing not only the need to improve local roads but also the pressing issue of unemployment.
This holistic approach demonstrates that Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s vision for development is both inclusive and pragmatic, directly involving citizens in the national construction process.
