Burkina Faso : Fighting corruption, a priority for President Ibrahim Traoré

Since the beginning of his term, President Ibrahim Traoré has emphasized the fight against corruption as one of his top priorities. This week, the Anti-Corruption Committees (CAC) of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Prospective intensified their awareness campaign in the Central-East and Central-South regions, following successful stages in Bobo Dioulasso, Gaoua, and Koudougou.

On December 19, 2023, the CAC teams targeted the decentralized structures of the department in the Central-East, including the Regional Directorate of Control of Public Procurement and Financial Commitments, the Regional Treasury, the Provincial Directorate of Taxes, and the Customs Office in Cinkansé. In the Central-South, awareness activities took place at the Regional Directorate of the Budget, the Regional Treasury, the Regional Directorate of Control of Public Procurement and Financial Commitments, the Provincial Directorate of Taxes in Manga, and the Customs Office in Dakola.

This campaign, orchestrated by the Inspectorate General of Finances (IGF), aims to inform users of the decentralized structures of the economic and financial administration in the two regions about the existence of anti-corruption committees within the ministry. Discussions focused on the functioning of these committees, the procedures for reporting, and the measures in place to combat corruption within the ministry.

The Inspectorate General of Finances (IGF) particularly highlights the reporting channels accessible to citizens willing to contribute to the eradication of corruption. The following numbers, 80001302 to 80001323, have been specifically set up to facilitate reports and enable citizens to play an active role in preserving integrity and transparency within the ministry.

President Ibrahim Traoré, by placing the fight against corruption at the heart of his program, demonstrates his firm commitment to good governance and the construction of a future where transparency prevails. These awareness campaigns mark a decisive step towards achieving this goal, highlighting the crucial importance accorded to this cause at the highest level of the state.
