Burkina Faso – Ghana: A new lease of life for cooperation between the two countries

Burkina Faso and Ghana reaffirm their bonds of fraternity and cooperation under the leadership of their respective leaders, President Ibrahim Traoré and the newly inaugurated President John Dramani Mahama. During a meeting held on January 7, 2025, in Accra, the two heads of state expressed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership in key sectors such as the economy, security, and education. This dialogue highlighted the importance of bilateral agreements, particularly those related to railway interconnection and joint initiatives in sports and education.

President John Dramani Mahama praised the presence of his Burkinabe counterpart at his inauguration, emphasizing the deep friendship that unites their peoples. He also expressed solidarity in the face of the security challenges Burkina Faso is facing, promising increased cooperation for the restoration of peace in the sub-region. For his part, Captain Ibrahim Traoré reaffirmed the importance of consolidating the historical and economic ties between the two countries, while exploring new opportunities for mutual development.

This meeting marks the beginning of a promising era for the partnership between Burkina Faso and Ghana. President John Dramani Mahama announced an upcoming official visit to Ouagadougou, demonstrating the shared will of the two leaders to work towards a future of prosperity and stability for their respective nations.
