During a recent meeting at the Koulouba Palace, Presidents Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso and John Dramani Mahama of Ghana discussed major infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

One of the key points addressed was the extension of the Accra-Bolgatenga gas pipeline to Burkina Faso. This project would ensure a stable supply of natural gas, thus contributing to the energy sovereignty of Burkina Faso. This strategic infrastructure would reduce dependence on costly energy sources and enhance the country’s energy security.

In the field of transportation, the two heads of state also discussed the upcoming launch of a direct air route between Ouagadougou and Accra. A local Ghanaian airline plans to operate a daily flight to facilitate economic, commercial, and tourism exchanges between the two nations. This initiative marks a significant step forward for regional air transport, bringing the Burkinabe and Ghanaian peoples closer together.

Ghana has also committed to supplying electricity to Burkina Faso, to support the efforts of the Burkinabe government in modernizing its energy network. This collaboration could relieve pressure on Burkina Faso’s electrical system and ensure better access to energy for the population.

Through these ambitious projects, Presidents Ibrahim Traoré and John Mahama demonstrate a clear commitment to building a lasting strategic partnership for the economic and social development of their countries.
