Burkina Faso: H.E. Madam Olivia Rouamba leads an important Burkinabe and Malian delegation to H.E. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de TAMBÈLA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, led a delegation from Burkina Faso and Mali to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, His Excellency Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de TAMBÈLA, in Ouagadougou, on Thursday, May 25, 2023
According to this delegation, composed of experts from Burkina Faso and Mali, they went to provide an update on the preparatory work for the 10th Session of the Joint Commission of Cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Republic of Mali.
According to the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, the Burkinabe Prime Minister requested both parties to «move from words to action».
His Excellency Seydou COULIBALY stated that this involves identifying key sectors and pooling efforts to address the current challenges.
The meeting was productive, allowing both parties to identify three areas, as stated by the head of the Malian delegation:
« In terms of defense, our two armies must continue to pool efforts and resources to effectively combat terrorism. On the diplomatic front, we must strengthen the framework for consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, so that together, we can amplify our voice on the international stage and explore other areas such as transportation to further open up our two regions. »
Similar to the Prime Minister, the Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, also provided guidance to both parties in order to better prepare for the upcoming Joint Commission of Cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Republic of Mali, scheduled to take place in Bamako, Mali, in July.
