Burkina Faso: Idrissa Ouédraogo officially becomes President of the Higher Council of Communication, succeeding Abdoulazize Bamogo
Idrissa Ouédraogo officially assumed the presidency of the Conseil supérieur de la communication (CSC) during a handover ceremony with Abdoulazize Bamogo in Ouagadougou on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
The handover between the two figures was marked by recognition of the work accomplished during the outgoing mandate. Abdoulazize Bamogo emphasized the importance placed on adopting and disseminating references aimed at promoting responsible communication practices, particularly in a national context marked by security crises and social tensions.
He highlighted several key texts developed during his tenure, including points of focus for media actors regarding social responsibility, a code of conduct for religious media, a guide for managing religious content in non-religious media, as well as advice for Burkinabe citizens.
Abdoulazize Bamogo also pledged to support the new president of the CSC, Idrissa Ouédraogo, whenever needed.
As for Idrissa Ouédraogo, he acknowledged the significant challenges facing the CSC team and committed to working with humility and determination to achieve tangible results promptly. He emphasized that his action would focus on clearly defining the professional areas of communication, placing emphasis on applied communication rather than theories.
He also expressed gratitude to Abdoulazize Bamogo and his team for their previous work. The installation ceremony of the new CSC president brought together several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela, government members, and institution presidents.
