Burkina Faso/Iran: Iranian nationals in Ouagadougou voted in the presidential election
In order to elect a new president for the Republic of Iran, following the tragic death of former President Ebrahim Raissi in a helicopter crash over a month ago, an election was held. Iranians residing in Burkina Faso also fulfilled their civic duty on Friday, June 28.
A total of six candidates are vying for the presidential seat in Iran. According to the ambassador, the competition is intense among the candidates, and no one knows yet who will be the new president of Iran. It is only after this election that Iranians will know who will manage the country’s affairs moving forward.
This election marks the 14th of its kind since the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in January 1979. According to the Iranian Constitution, it is the responsibility of the Minister of the Interior to organize the elections, which is being done. It is worth noting that Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran maintain excellent relations of friendship and multisectoral cooperation.
These areas include environmental protection and natural resources; energy and mining; construction; social protection; the development of higher education, research, and innovation; the pharmaceutical industry; and technical and vocational training.
