Burkina Faso: Japan continues cooperation to support national development policy
On February 20, 2024, in Ouagadougou, the Minister of State for Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, received in audience the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Burkina Faso, His Excellency NAGASHIMA Jun.
For the new ambassador, this meeting is part of the ongoing cooperation to support Burkina Faso’s national development policy. On this occasion, he reaffirmed to the minister Japan’s commitment to continue cooperation with Burkina Faso, focusing on human capital development, agricultural development, regional integration, and security.
Minister Ouédraogo, also the Government spokesperson, expressed his satisfaction with the good collaboration between the two countries and expressed his desire for further strengthening, particularly in cultural aspects. According to Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, it is through culture that people truly discover each other.
This cooperation would be even more beneficial for Burkina Faso if authorities also focus on training future elites by negotiating scholarships for students through partnerships between universities in Burkina Faso and those in Japan.
