Burkina Faso/Justice: President Ibrahim TRAORE calls for fair justice for his compatriots
The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, wants a fair justice system that meets the aspirations of the Burkinabe citizens. He reiterated this during his meeting with the new members of the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) on Monday, November 25, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, particularly Article 131, which stipulates an annual meeting between the President of Faso and the High Council of the Judiciary every November.
As a reminder, the Head of State has always expressed his desire to see justice sector actors who are patriots, concerned with the interests of the population in general, without any exception. The meeting with the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) was yet another opportunity for the President of Faso to reiterate his vision for justice in Burkina Faso. He urged the leaders of this judicial institution to undertake a deep reform aimed at the greater good of the people.
For the President , it is unjust to create differences between citizens when resolving conflicts or handling cases. “Let us therefore work to deliver fair justice to the Burkinabè, to move towards real justice that is just for all citizens; there should be no super citizens and second-class citizens,” he stated. For him, it is unacceptable to treat clients, as often said, “based on the size of their wallet.”
This vision was highly appreciated by the CSM officials. In fact, the President of the institution, Adama OUEDRAOGO, committed to putting the President of Faso’s aspirations into practice. He is in favor of “a reformed, adapted, and fair justice system, so that it can be embraced by the people.” “Each member of this new CSM fully understands the citizens’ expectations and the deep necessity for a paradigm shift that justified this reform,” he affirmed.
