Burkina Faso: Minister Mahamadou SANA pays tribute to fighting forces and calls for unity

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Groupement des Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité de Ouagadougou (GCRS-O) hosted the rotating flag-raising ceremony, chaired by the Minister of Security, Mahamadou SANA. This solemn event brought together key figures from the Ministry of Security, including the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), who sang the victory anthem in tribute to the efforts made in the recapture of national territory. At the end of the ceremony, Minister SANA praised the work accomplished by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and paid tribute to the fallen heroes.

The flag-raising ceremony at GCRS-O provided an opportunity to celebrate the sacrifices and achievements of the defense and security forces in the fight against terrorism.

In his speech, Minister Mahamadou SANA honored the efforts of his collaborators and the defense forces for their hard work. He also emphasized the importance of supporting the fighting forces engaged on all fronts, particularly in Barani, Iolonioro, Toéni, Fô, Sebba, and Yamba. “Every action or thought moving forward must be guided by support for the fighting forces,” he stated, highlighting the necessity of placing the FDS and VDP at the heart of all initiatives.

Minister SANA also stressed the duty of unity and solidarity toward the fighting forces. “It is up to us to support the fighting forces on the ground,” he added, reminding everyone that the fight against terrorism and the recapture of territory requires collective mobilization. He called on all stakeholders to unite for the good of the people and the future of Burkina Faso.
