Burkina Faso: Municipal Police close five drinking establishments
In Ouagadougou, in districts 3 and 4, the municipal police executed the closure of five maquis for noise nuisance and indecency. These drinking establishments, for the most part, do not have legal documents at the opening, in accordance with the regulations in force.
According to the municipal police, these closures follow complaints from residents who were suffering nuisance all the time.
The warnings remained unheeded, the police had to systematically close these public places of leisure.
In addition to noise pollution and non-compliance with regulations on the promotion of drinking establishments, these public places a few days before the end of the year holidays, can turn into areas of frequentation of suspected jihadists aspiring to observation or information.
Hence the urgency of the authorities to strongly secure these public places of leisure so as to prevent unwanted encounters from developing there.
In addition to mobile patrols, the action of the authorities in relation to the maquis and bars, must also be security by fixed security forces in civilian clothes or uniform.
Instead of resorting to closing these drinking establishments, such measures can also help to deter indecency and national security.
However, the Municipal Police welcomed the collaboration of the population and invited the promoters of drinking establishments to respect the law in force which prohibits the use of noise beyond the tolerance threshold.
