Burkina Faso / One year of transformation: How Captain Ibrahim Traoré has shaped a new Burkina Faso

Since Captain Ibrahim Traoré became President of Burkina Faso almost a year ago, the country has made significant progress in a number of crucial areas. Among the most notable aspects of his presidency have been the spectacular improvements in security, the fight against corruption and economic development.

On the security front, Burkina Faso used to be plagued by regular terrorist attacks, which claimed the lives of dozens, if not hundreds, of citizens every week. However, under the presidency of Captain Traoré, drastic measures were taken to counter this threat. Targeted air raids against terrorist groups, now regularly broadcast on the 8 o’clock news on national television, have considerably weakened these organisations. The citizens of Burkina Faso can finally live with a renewed sense of security, a radical change from the situation before the President came to power.

The fight against corruption is another major priority for this government. Corruption has long been an obstacle to the country’s development, but President Traoré and his team have put in place mechanisms to combat it effectively. Reforms and greater transparency in public administration have helped to reduce corrupt practices, creating a more favourable climate for investment and economic growth.

On the economic front, Burkina Faso is preparing to become the economic engine of West Africa thanks to an ambitious community entrepreneurship programme. This project, launched by the transitional authorities to revive the economy in a time of crisis, aims to create wealth by and for the people of Burkina Faso. It focuses on strategic and sovereign sectors, which will enable the country to become more economically self-sufficient.

This progress demonstrates a strong commitment to the well-being of the population and the sustainable development of the country. With the continuation of these efforts, Burkina Faso is well set for a promising future.
