Burkina Faso : Ouagadougou solicited to support Chad’s Candidacy for ASECNA directorship

Chad is nominating itself for the directorship of the Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa (ASECNA). To this end, the Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, Mahamat Assouyouti Abakar, leading a Chadian delegation, visited the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on Wednesday, April 3rd. The objective is to solicit the support of the « Land of Honest Men » to attain this position.

« The Chad candidacy for ASECNA is primarily a candidacy for the Sahel region. I want to thank the President for his unequivocal support », stated Mahamat Assouyouti Abakar, Chadian Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation after the meeting.

The audience also provided an opportunity for Mr. Abakar to convey messages of friendship from his superior, General Mahamat Idriss Itno, to the President of the Burkinabé revolution.

« Chad has always stood by the Burkinabé people in their legitimate aspirations for economic and social development », he emphasized.

According to the Chadian Minister of Economy, discussions with President Traoré also focused on the bilateral cooperation relations between their two countries. Mahamat Assouyouti Abakar reassured that the two countries have maintained excellent relations of friendship and cooperation for decades.
