Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim TRAORE hands over optical sorters to enhance local rice quality

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, handed over twenty optical sorters to the rice mills of Burkina Faso. This modern equipment marks a significant milestone in the transformation and enhancement of the country’s rice production.

With these optical sorters, Burkinabe rice farmers will now be able to produce higher-quality rice, meeting market standards and thus boosting competitiveness against imports. These machines, designed to remove impurities and sort grains by size and color, will ensure a uniform and attractive final product for consumers.

During the ceremony, President Ibrahim TRAORE reaffirmed his commitment to promoting local agriculture and food self-sufficiency. “This initiative is part of our vision to support Burkinabe farmers and encourage the consumption of our local products”, he emphasized.

This gesture also addresses the expectations of stakeholders in the rice sector, who view this donation as a means to improve their economic yields and strengthen the rice industry, which is crucial to the country’s food security.

The initiative has been praised by rice farmers and industry professionals, who see it as an opportunity to make Burkinabe rice a flagship product, both on the national and international markets.
