Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré’s vision of food self-sufficiency takes shape through strategic initiatives

President Ibrahim Traoré’s food self-sufficiency policy continues to materialize through strategic initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of the population. As part of the 2024-2025 dry season campaign, the government made a significant step by distributing free agricultural inputs and irrigation equipment to the people of the Loroum province.

Led by Minister of Agriculture, Commander Ismaël Sombié, this action reflects the government’s desire to combine territorial recovery with the revitalization of economic activities, particularly potato and vegetable farming, which are vital to the local economy.

In total, 30 tons of potato seeds, 24 tons of NPK fertilizers, 100 treatment devices, and 10 water pumps were distributed to farmers to boost their activities. This initiative follows an inclusive approach, where development and security go hand in hand. Thanks to these efforts, many displaced families can now return to their homes and resume their agricultural activities, strengthening their autonomy and resilience.

The beneficiaries, through the Loroum Development Association, expressed their gratitude and highlighted the transformative impact of these measures. For them, this support proves that it is possible to combine the fight against terrorism with development. These actions reflect the government’s determination to place the people at the heart of national priorities while building a sustainable and prosperous future for Burkina Faso.
