Burkina Faso: Prime Minister encourages VDPs and healthcare staff during field visit
Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, conducted a tour on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Ouagadougou to offer his support to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the medical staff involved in securing the territory.
The visit began at the VDP Brigade (BVDP), where he met with military leaders and staff. After touring the facilities, including the staff room, the operations center, and the archives room, he expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the best working conditions for the VDP. He stated, “We are closely following your efforts, and we will support you in carrying out your mission.”
The Prime Minister then visited the Captain Halassane Coulibaly Hospital, located in the Sangoulé Lamizana camp. This hospital, named in honor of Captain Halassane Coulibaly who fell in Djibo, treats those wounded in the security operations. The Prime Minister encouraged the patients, assuring them that their sacrifice is what allows Burkina Faso to stand strong. The central director of the military health services, Moustapha Sérémé, expressed gratitude for the visit and reiterated the commitment of the medical staff.
The tour concluded at the National Training Center for the VDP, located on the outskirts of the capital. The Prime Minister praised the contributions of traditional leaders who donated land for the establishment of the center, emphasizing the importance of their support. He also acknowledged the agricultural and poultry activities conducted there, noting that these initiatives contribute to the country’s food sovereignty.
Addressing the VDP, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo expressed his admiration for their unwavering commitment alongside the defense and security forces, assuring them of the state’s support in fulfilling their mission.
