Burkina Faso: Revelation on the release of lieutenant colonel Zoungrana. External financing?
According to information gathered from investigations conducted in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire, the release of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana was orchestrated and financed by external actors.
THE PLAN
Consistent sources indicate that the plot was devised in early May, just after the official announcement of the national conference that extended Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s transitional government. Needing a brave and bold officer, they chose Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana. But how would they go about securing his release ?
CORRUPTION WITHIN THE REVIEW CHAMBER
This department consists of civilian judges. Some of these judges were approached with monetary offers. Burkinabe politicians residing in Côte d’Ivoire, whose names will soon be revealed upon confirmation of the investigations, initially discussed a total amount to be paid for the release of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana, who agreed to lead the destabilization plot once freed. According to the information, he assured them that he could persuade his men to overthrow Captain Ibrahim Traoré on the very day of the national conference.
THE DEAL AGREED
Once the total amount for the release was settled, some civilian judges of the military tribunal received an initial payment of fifty percent (50%) of the total sum, with the remainder to be paid upon signing the release document.
According to received information, these corrupt judges then lobbied other judges within the review chamber to secure the release of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana.
EXECUTION OF THE DEAL OVER TIME
According to some unconfirmed sources, the corrupt judges were tasked with executing the release of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana before the national conference, explaining the signing of the release document on May 24, 2024, the day after the conference. The delay in paying the remaining 50% held up the execution of the signed document since May 24, 2024. This explains the delayed release of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana on May 29, 2024.
OBJECTIVE AFTER THE LATE RELEASE OF LIEUTENANT COLONEL ZOUNGRANA
Once released, Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana was supposed to go to an undisclosed location where certain individuals awaited him to plan a destabilization plot scheduled between late June and July. This scenario was devised by a Burkinabé politician residing in Côte d’Ivoire, whose funding sources we will cover later.
WHO ARE THESE CORRUPT JUDGES?
Names are circulating, and Burkinabe authorities already have some information on this matter. According to our sources, an associate of Lieutenant Colonel Zoungrana who was intercepted cooperated and provided names to the authorities, who are currently conducting confirmation investigations.
The details and actors involved in the upcoming destabilization plots will be covered in our future editions.
