Burkina Faso/Russia : Cooperation relationships between the two countries are gradually being consolidated

The friendship and cooperation between the Land of Honest People and the Russian Federation are further strengthening. Since the coup on September 30 and the rise to power of MPSR led by Ibrahim TRAORE, the two countries have engaged in a strong and lasting relationship.

Today, the authorities of both countries want to go further, and to do so, it requires diplomatic representations on both sides. Thus, Russia under Vladimir Putin has decided to open an embassy in Burkina Faso led by Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, December 26, according to information from Russian diplomat Alexeï Saltykov in Côte d’Ivoire, in an interview with TASS. This is expected to be effective from Thursday, December 28, 2023, through an official embassy opening ceremony, presided over by the diplomat, and attended by Burkinabe officials.

As a reminder, the Russian Federation and Burkina Faso maintain a bilateral cooperation relationship in military, defense, economic, and nuclear energy fields. These relations are based solely on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests.

The consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries will be an important asset for the authorities and peoples of Burkina Faso and Russia.
