Burkina Faso/Security: Is the lifting of the curfew in the Eastern region a sign of victory for the burkinabe?

As a reminder, the regional authorities of the East region of Burkina Faso announced on Monday, November 11, 2024, the end of the curfew that had been imposed and regularly renewed since 2019, as part of the fight against terrorism. This curfew had allowed the defense and security forces to carry out their mission of securing the area. The lifting of this measure is seen as a tangible sign of the significant progress made in the fight against terrorism.

It should be noted that offensive operations on the ground have intensified over the past two years, particularly after President Ibrahim TRAORE came to power. Determined to combat the criminals who have been grieving families in the land of the “upright men” for years, the President of Faso and his collaborators have taken appropriate measures for a more vigorous and intense struggle, aimed at completely freeing the country from the terrorist scourge.

The ambition of the authorities of Burkina Faso is to eradicate this plague that hinders the country’s development and the well-being of the Burkinabe people. The commitment and determination of the authorities, the defense and security forces, as well as the aware and conscious Burkinabe population, are yielding promising results that indicate certain victory over the terrorist groups. According to some opinions, the end of the curfew in the East region, after nearly five (05) years, is one such proof.

The regional authorities have also praised the contribution of the local populations to the restoration of security and called for greater engagement alongside the combat forces for the total reconquest of the national territory, as the country’s authorities desire.
