The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, received an important message of solidarity this Thursday morning from the President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. This strong gesture was delivered by the Senegalese President’s special envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, who expressed the support and brotherhood of the Senegalese people toward Burkina Faso, particularly during this challenging time marked by terrorist attacks.

Following the meeting, Abdoulaye Bathily reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to supporting its Burkinabe neighbor in the complex fight against insecurity. “President Faye, his government, and the entire Senegalese population stand in solidarity with Burkina Faso during these difficult times,” he declared. This message of support reflects Senegal’s recognition of the crucial need to strengthen regional unity and cooperation to combat a common enemy, terrorism, which is destabilizing the entire Sahel and West Africa region.

Through this fraternal gesture, Senegal clearly demonstrates that the security challenges in the region require a synergy of efforts. Bathily emphasized that the aspirations of the West African people—unity, development, and security—are deeply shared. “We are deeply troubled by what is happening in our region,” he said, while stressing the need for countries to work closely together and pool their efforts to overcome these challenges.

Senegal’s support for Burkina Faso also serves as a call for African unity and the development of strong relations based on solidarity and cooperation. In the face of difficulties, this solidarity becomes essential for building a future of peace and stability for the entire continent. The special envoy also praised the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), noting that this initiative will help achieve common goals of political and economic emancipation.

The Senegalese message is clear proof that the fight against terrorism in West Africa must be conducted in unison, with a spirit of cooperation and brotherhood between nations. Burkina Faso, which is facing one of the most complex challenges in its history, can count on the support of its neighbors like Senegal as it moves toward peace and security.
