Burkina Faso: Solenzo tragedy, beware of the well-targeted disinformation campaign!!!!
On Tuesday, November 26, Bassolma Bazié, the Minister of State for Public Service, along with a government delegation, met with the community leaders of the Solenzo area, following the tragic death of the canton chief. Sent by President Ibrahim Traoré to deliver a message of comfort and support to the local population, Minister Bazié condemned what he referred to as a “campaign of disinformation”.
According to Bazié, this tactic of manipulating the population by those who oppose peace is at the root of the tragic event that occurred in Solenzo. He explained that certain individuals, influenced by misinformation propagated by those who do not wish to see the citizens of the same country united in overcoming challenges, turned against their fellow military personnel, who continue to sacrifice themselves day and night on the battlefield against enemies in the bush.
The minister emphasized that, in the process of inciting protests against the brave soldiers, the enemy took advantage of the situation to infiltrate and cause irreparable damage. He urged the residents of Solenzo to place their trust in the authorities and the fighting forces, particularly the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR18), which is actively engaged in combating terrorists in the region. He also denounced the proliferation of false information on social media, which is being used to destabilize the situation.
Bazié pointed out that with the upcoming official exit of the member states of the AES Confederation from ECOWAS, the adversary, dissatisfied with the situation, is attempting to create confusion and insecurity in Burkina Faso to disrupt the process. He called on both the fighting forces and civilian populations to remain calm and strengthen their resolve in the face of these challenges.
