Burkina Faso: Sports/Triple Jump – Hugues Zango clinches another gold medal at the African games in Accra
Hugues Zango Fabrice retains his title as the champion of the African Games in triple jump, securing another gold medal on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in Accra, Ghana. This comes after achieving a jump of 16.97 meters.
Burkina Faso clinches its first gold medal at the African Games in Accra, thanks to Hugues Fabrice Zango, who triumphs in the triple jump discipline with a leap of 16.97 meters. While this achievement is below his usual performances, which typically exceed 17 meters, given the level of competition and his opponents, the triple jumper did not see the need to exert too much energy.
This new medal adds to the accolades of the athlete nicknamed “the Flying Stallion” and confirms his promising potential. It is hoped that he will ascend the podium at the Paris Olympics, bringing Burkina Faso its first Olympic gold medal.
The succession of Hugues Fabrice Zango already seems to be underway. It is worth noting that another Burkinabe athlete competing in the triple jump, Yacouba Loué, secured the bronze medal with a performance of 15.86 meters. As of now, Burkina Faso has earned 6 medals, including 5 bronze and 1 gold, from its participation in the African Games in Accra.
