Burkina Faso/Territorial Reconquest: 30.000 Internally displaced persons reinstalled in 2023 in the sahel region
According to information provided by regional authorities, the Sahel region has seen a portion of its inhabitants, totaling 30.000 individuals, return home during the year 2023. These are people who were forced to leave their land and other belongings under threat from armed terrorist groups.
Today, many Burkinabe citizens, internally displaced persons (IDPs), have returned to their homes following improvements in the country’s security situation. This is the result of the dedication and determination of the brave and dignified sons and daughters of the land of the upright.
It is worth recalling that in September 2023, the Burkinabé government reported the resettlement of 191.937 internally displaced persons across the entire national territory from the beginning of the year 2023 to August 31st. It should be noted that the transitional government has made regaining control of the entire Burkinabé territory its priority, as well as eliminating terrorism from its territory and from the Sahel.
This ambition of the transitional authorities requires massive support and unwavering support from the Burkinabe people for its effective realization. Conscious Burkinabés understand that collective struggle will make them free and secure men and women. They therefore demonstrate, through concrete actions, their desire to end this terrorist threat.
The struggle continues, and they are called upon to redouble their efforts, to show more sacrifices, given that war comes at a great cost. Reclaiming the spaces occupied by terrorists and resettling internally displaced persons require substantial resources, particularly for securing, resuming administrative activities, and developing the reconquered localities.
The determination and commitment of the Burkinabé population alongside transitional authorities and fighting forces are essential for a final and lasting victory. For now, it is also imperative to show solidarity with these individuals in need.
