Burkina Faso: The army dismantles terrorist command posts in Yondé and Gomboro
On Thursday 08 June 2023, the Burkina Faso army carried out a series of operations against armed terrorist groups in several regions of the country. Terrorist command posts in Yondé in the Centre-East and Gomboro in the Boucle du Mouhoun were decimated, killing several dozen criminals, security sources said.
In recent days, the combat forces have engaged in intense battles with armed terrorist groups on multiple fronts, including in Kankanmogré in the Central-East region. Thursday morning, intelligence reported a building serving as a command post and accommodation for terrorists in Yondé. Airstrikes destroyed the base and neutralized several dozen terrorists.
Simultaneously, combat forces’ radar located a terrorist group holding a meeting at a command post in the Kessombodé forest in Gomboro, Boucle du Mouhoun. The conspirators were reduced to ashes by a precise strike, followed by the destruction of the base by a combat helicopter.
According to security sources, operations are ongoing to regain territorial integrity and restore peace. These operations demonstrate the continued commitment of the Burkinabe defense and security forces to combat the armed terrorist groups that have spread terror in the country in recent years.
It is important to note that the fight against terrorism remains a major challenge for Burkina Faso, and military operations like these are necessary to protect citizens and restore security in the country.
