Burkina Faso/ The Burkinabe People : A Pillar Behind President Ibrahim Traoré Facing the Challenges of Terrorism
The popular support for President Ibrahim Traoré’s anti-terrorism vision shows no signs of weakening, even in the face of recent government measures.
The population’s efforts in the fight against terrorism persist, despite the imposition of deductions from salaries and business profits. As the year 2023 closed and 2024 began, solidarity towards the Security Forces and those affected by conflicts remains remarkable.
In the southern part of the country, acts of generosity have been observed, such as the donation of food and materials by Albert Tiendrébeogo, a mineral water operator, to internally displaced persons and detainees in the civilian prison of Léo. Similar contributions have come from various regions, illustrating a national outpouring of support.
Despite the announcement of mandatory deductions from salaries and business profits in January 2024, the Burkinabè population continues to provide various aids. Significant contributions have been recorded, such as five 4×4 vehicles worth over 80 million CFA francs delivered by the economic operator Mahamadi Ouédraogo.
Acts of solidarity, whether coming from civil society, businesses, or ordinary citizens, add to President Traoré’s call to mobilize the people around crucial initiatives such as food self-sufficiency and community development.
While some actors suggest directing funds to other sectors, the population remains committed to contributing, even modestly, to the fight against the forces of evil, underscoring their determination to ensure Burkina Faso’s security and sovereignty.
