Burkina Faso : The Chief of the gendarmerie staff visits his troops at the Nakambé bridge

The chief of the Burkinabe gendarmerie’s staff, Colonel Kouagri Natama, aims to be close to his men in order to strengthen collaboration to accomplish their mission of securing the national territory.

In this regard, he made a visit to the gendarmerie unit at the Nakambé bridge on Monday, March 18th. The purpose of this visit was to inquire about their living and working conditions, gather their concerns, and brainstorm together for solutions.

Colonel Kouagri Natama, along with the commander of the First Gendarmerie Legion, Lieutenant Colonel Théophile Tago, and other intermediate chain of command officials, visited the gendarmes stationed at the Nakambé bridge detachment on Monday. The brief visit provided an opportunity for the gendarmerie chief to engage with the gendarmes of the detachment regarding their living and working conditions.

The chief of the gendarmerie took the opportunity to share a meal with his men and reassure them that the command is working diligently to improve their living and working conditions.

It’s worth recalling that in October last year, the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, issued a decree appointing Lieutenant Colonel Kouagri Natama as the head of the National Gendarmerie, replacing Lieutenant Colonel Evrard Somda, who was indicted for an attempted destabilization of Burkina.

During his assumption of command ceremony, Mr. Natama pledged to streamline information within the institution, to work on enhancing the image of the Gendarmerie, to strengthen security operations alongside other defense forces, and to implement internal reforms for greater effectiveness.

« I call for unity, so that we can leave future generations with a stronger, more united, always professional institution that transcends time », declared the chief of the Burkinabe gendarmerie’s staff.
