Burkina-Faso: The excellent relationship between Ouagadougou and Riyadh

Diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia, established in the 1970 and materialised by the opening of its embassy in Ouagadougou in 2002, are at a high level. This bilateral cooperation of common interest is being further strengthened in all areas.

Saudi Arabia’s support for Burkina’s development was reiterated by Saudi ambassador Fahad Aldosari in Ouagadougou on Tuesday. Welcomed by Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyélèm de Tambèla, the two men discussed the excellent relations between their two countries. These include economic and political cooperation. These relations are directed towards the health and social sectors, through development projects financed by Saudi funds for the benefit of the people of Burkina Faso.

Security is no exception. «We have always worked with Burkina Faso in all areas, without exception. We are ready to support Burkina Faso in this war against terrorism» declared diplomat Fahad Aldosari.

As a partner in the operationalisation of the G5 Sahel, of which Burkina Faso is a member, Saudi Arabia appears to be a strategic ally of Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s country through its various funds for the development of Burkina Faso.
