Burkina Faso / The Fall of terrorist leader Hassane Idrissa Boly: A devastating blow against terrorism

In the relentless fight against terrorism, the Burkinabe Combat Forces have neutralized Hassane Idrissa Boly, an operational leader of the so-called Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), along with 26 of his accomplices.

This operation took place on February 20, 2024, in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, marking a significant blow to the terrorist groups attempting to sow terror in Burkina Faso.

Faced with hordes of terrorists who attempted to oppose the operation to reclaim Douroula, the Combat Forces responded with unwavering firmness. Fierce battles took place between Magnimasso and the Léry Bridge, also known as the Thomas Sankara Bridge, resulting in the elimination of 27 criminals, including Hassane Idrissa Boly, aged around 33.

Hassane Idrissa Boly, a ruthless individual, had targeted the Kossi and Banwa provinces, leading a merciless terror campaign since 2019. As the mastermind behind the blockade of the city of Nouna and the displacement of several villages, he spread death and destruction in his wake.

His nefarious activities peaked in 2020 when he planned and orchestrated several deadly attacks against the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as civilian populations, from his base in Kinsèrè, in the Barani commune.

The neutralization of Hassane Idrissa Boly represents a major victory in the fight against terrorism in Burkina Faso. As an operational leader of the GSIM, he was a crucial link in the chain of oppression weighing on local populations.

His base in Kinsèrè, one of the most significant in the Kossi province, was a stronghold of evil that fueled terrorist activities in the region. By putting an end to his reign of terror, the Combat Forces have dealt a severe blow to the terrorist groups operating in the Boucle du Mouhoun and beyond.
