Burkina Faso: The FBF launches a commission to draw up its 2024-2028 strategic plan

On Friday, February 28, 2025, the President of the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF), Oumarou Sawadogo, inaugurated an ad hoc commission tasked with developing the 2024-2028 strategic plan. This initiative is part of the ongoing reorganization and modernization of national football. The commission, made up of qualified experts, is responsible for defining the priorities and strategic directions for the next four years.
The commission has two months, from March to April 2025, to propose an ambitious and realistic plan. This document must reflect the collective ambitions of the FBF and be based on the realities of Burkinabe football. According to Oumarou Sawadogo, this strategic plan represents a key moment in the modernization process initiated by the federation.
Five key areas have been identified: the development of training at all levels, the improvement of sports infrastructure, the professionalization of football, talent detection, and the promotion of sportsmanship. These priorities aim to structure and energize national football for the coming years.
The FBF president emphasized the need to balance ambition and pragmatism. The strategic plan will need to be accompanied by a detailed budgetary program and an operational monitoring mechanism to ensure its effective implementation. “This plan is a project for the nation, for the youth, and for the prosperity of Burkinabe football”, said Oumarou Sawadogo.
He also expressed confidence in the commission, highlighting that its members can rely on their skills, experiences, and the achievements of the previous strategic plan (2020-2024) to propose a reference document. The installation ceremony of the commission took place in a sober yet determined atmosphere, reflecting the importance of this mission. The results of their work are expected by the end of April 2025.
The establishment of this commission marks a crucial step in the modernization of Burkinabe football. By setting clear priorities and proposing concrete measures, the FBF hopes to strengthen training, infrastructure, and the professionalization of football. This 2024-2028 strategic plan, driven by collective ambitions, aims to offer a promising future for Burkinabe football and its young talents.
