Burkina Faso / The lie of Jeune Afrique in the Damiba letter affair: An attempt to destabilize the current government

The newspaper Jeune Afrique, well-known for being under Paris’s orders, published a false article on July 17, 2024, aimed at discrediting the MPSR led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré. According to this publication, a letter attributed to former President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, currently in exile in Lomé, was addressed to Captain Traoré, expressing his concern about the deteriorating security situation in Burkina Faso. This is nothing more than fake news propagated by this French newspaper to sow chaos and division.

First: A deceptive comparison of the security situation

It is crucial to highlight that under Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s presidency, Burkina Faso has seen a noticeable improvement in its security situation. Contrary to what Jeune Afrique would have us believe, the country is faring much better today than it did under the regime of former President Damiba.

Since Captain Traoré took power, significant efforts have been made to strengthen security and stabilize regions affected by terrorism. The Burkinabe Armed Forces, under Captain Traoré’s strategic and determined command, have multiplied successful operations against terrorist groups, bringing peace and security to several regions of the country.

Second: Togo’s role in preserving regional stability

Regarding the allegations that Damiba, exiled in Togo, is attempting to destabilize Burkina Faso, it is essential to remember that Togo has always been a reliable neighbor and partner in the fight against regional insecurity.

The Togolese authorities would never allow their territory to be used to destabilize a brother country like Burkina Faso. The Togolese government, under President Faure Gnassingbé, is committed to supporting stabilization and development efforts throughout the West African region.

The people of Burkina Faso must remain vigilant in the face of these disinformation campaigns and continue to support their government’s efforts to ensure the country’s security and development. Solidarity and national unity are the best responses to these destabilizing maneuvers orchestrated from abroad.
