Burkina Faso / The start of the new judicial year: President I. Traoré to the independence of the judiciary
The Head of State of Burkina Faso, His Excellency President Ibrahim Traoré, marked his presence at the solemn hearing of the 2023-2024 judicial year of the various jurisdictions of Burkina Faso on Monday, October 2, 2023. As guarantor of the independence of the judiciary, President I. Traoré was welcomed by the First President of the Court of Cassation, Mazobé Jean KONDE, who expressed the gratitude of the actors of the justice towards the sustained attention of the Head of State towards the judicial institution.
Indeed, the ceremon of the 2023-2024 judicial year, under the theme «The judicial treatment of economic and financial offences: state of play and prospects» was an opportunity for judicial actors to reflect on the efforts made in the fight against economic crimes. The First President of the Court of Cassation stressed the importance of the specialized judicial poles in this fight, hailing the commitment of the highest authorities of the country to make the fight against this scourge their battle horse.
The President of the Bar Association of Burkina Faso, Me Siaka NIAMBA, advocated for the extension of specialized judicial centers to the repression of economic and financial offences and organized crime in the capitals of the regions. He stressed the importance of integrity, probity, impartiality, incorruptibility and competence of justice actors to ensure justice conveying good governance and economic development.
The resolute commitment of President Ibrahim Traoré to lead the people to the final victory was praised by Me Siaka NIAMBA, the qualifier of legendary priesthood and courage. Note that, this judicial reopening also retained the presence of the President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Mali, Terah FATOMA.
