Burkina Faso: «the victory over terrorism is already underway», reassures the government.
Terrorists attempted to attack a food convoy in the northern regions but were taken by surprise by the response of the defense forces escorting the convoy. The military reacted promptly and forcefully, resulting in heavy losses for the assailants. Security is not yet fully restored in Burkina Faso, and under these conditions, the Burkinabe people cannot go to the elections.
The attitudes of certain partners have motivated the Burkina Faso authorities to forge new relationships with other willing partners.
Every soldier in the fight against terrorism now has a weapon. Security measures have been stepped up. Several hard-to-reach localities have been supplied with essential goods by special ground and air operations.
The insecurity has led to a significant number of internally displaced persons. The Burkinabe government has implemented certain support measures for them, including the urgent construction of shelters in Boucle du Mouhoun, Centre-Nord, East, and Sahel regions.
The implementation of the operational plan to support the 2022-2023 dry season campaign, costing over eleven billion CFA francs, has provided assistance to some internally displaced persons.
Students affected by this crisis are not neglected. The implementation of the emergency education strategy has facilitated the return to schooling for many internally displaced students, providing them with scholarships, kits, and coverage of school fees.
Thanks to strong and exemplary cooperation with other countries such as the People’s Republic of China, several projects have been completed, and others are currently underway.
These include the construction of the new hospital in Bobo-Dioulasso, the construction of 111 primary schools to reduce the number of schools under makeshift shelters, the training of nearly a thousand Burkinabe professionals in various fields in the People’s Republic of China, and the awarding of hundreds of scholarships to Burkinabe students.
