Burkina Faso : Towards peace with President Ibrahim Traoré – AES at the Forefront Against Terrorism
Under the presidency of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has undergone a remarkable transformation in its fight against terrorism. His visionary leadership has led to crucial initiatives, including the signing of the Liptako-Gourma Charter, which established the Sahel States Alliance (AES) between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. This alliance has been a crucial catalyst in tracking and neutralizing terrorist groups operating in the region.
Under President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, security forces have intensified their efforts to eradicate the scourge of terrorism. Terrorists are now relentlessly pursued, and their networks are effectively dismantled. This determination has led to a significant return to stability and security in areas once plagued by terrorist violence.
A concrete example of this victory is the return of over 191.937 internally displaced persons to their home villages as of August 31, 2023. These citizens, who fled atrocities committed by terrorists, have been able to resume normal life thanks to the concerted efforts of the government and security forces under President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership.
Under his reign, terrorist attacks, which once caused massive loss of life, have become increasingly rare. Preventive measures and security operations have significantly reduced the number of victims of these barbaric acts. Gone are the days when dozens, or even hundreds of people, were killed every week in terrorist attacks.
Thus, it is undeniable that President Ibrahim Traoré has instilled new hope and vigor in the fight against terrorism. His resolute leadership and unwavering determination have transformed the reality on the ground and brought tangible relief to affected populations.
