Burkina Faso: Wayignan, the citizen force that embodies love for the nation
In a context marked by security challenges and attempts at destabilization, the Burkinabe government, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, can rely on the unwavering support of the “Wayignans”. These citizen watch groups embody the patriotic commitment of the Burkinabe people, ensuring the safety of leaders and safeguarding national sovereignty day and night. On the eve of the new year, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, accompanied by several government members, took the opportunity to express the nation’s gratitude during a visit to the United Nations Roundabout in Ouagadougou.
The Prime Minister also used the occasion to reaffirm the government’s firm stance in response to the recent declarations by ECOWAS regarding the exit of AES member states from the organization. “ECOWAS is now in the rearview mirror”, he declared, emphasizing Burkina Faso’s determination to continue its path toward total sovereignty, free from any external interference. While congratulating the Wayignans for their crucial role in this struggle, he urged them to remain vigilant to thwart any attempts at destabilization, regardless of their origin.
This visit, which concluded a tour of encouragement to the Combatant Forces, was seen as a deep gesture of recognition. The citizen watchdogs expressed their honor at this attention, demonstrating the government’s acknowledgment of their efforts. Through this symbolic act, Captain Ibrahim Traoré and his team reaffirm the importance of a strong partnership between leaders and citizens in building a secure and sovereign Burkina Faso.
