Burkina Faso: What can be gleaned from the visit of Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA to Doha?

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad has been staying in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, since June 19, 2023.

Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, carrying a message from the Head of State, the President of the Transition, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad AL-THANI, held discussions on June 20, 2023, with her Qatari counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Sultan Bin Saad AL MURAIKHI.

After explaining the current situation and the unique context of Burkina Faso in the fight against terrorism, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA advocated for substantial support and assistance from the State of Qatar in humanitarian and security domains.

The Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs assured that he had taken note of the presentation on the situation in Burkina Faso.

He expressed his country’s willingness and readiness to support Burkina Faso in humanitarian and health areas. The issue of security was also viewed favorably.

Minister ROUAMBA reaffirmed the Burkinabe authorities’ commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Burkina Faso and the State of Qatar since 1988. To demonstrate this willingness to enhance collaboration, the Burkinabe Foreign Minister handed over a request for the accreditation of a Burkinabe Ambassador to the State of Qatar to His Excellency Mr. AL-MURAIKHI.
