Burkina-Faso: What Do We Understand In This UN Commentary On The Repulsed Terrorist Attack In Djibo?

Where is the world going? The United Nations (UN) reacting to the attack on Djibo, valiantly repulsed by the Defence and Security Forces, states, I quote: «the perpetrators of the attack must be held accountable after thorough, impartial and independent investigations by the authorities».

But what investigations is UN Human Rights Bureau spokesperson Seif Mangago talking about? The facts are there. Terrorist groups tried to besiege the city of Djibo in northern Burkina Faso and the army reacted quickly to these criminals who were pouring in from all sides. What «in-depth» investigation must the Burkinabe authorities still conduct to situate what «responsibilities»?

The UN, as an institution of international peace and security, should strongly condemn this attack, congratulate and support the Burkinabe defence and security forces for saving thousands of lives by repelling the jihadists’ assault and killing hundreds of these criminals.

Burkina Faso, nor the African opinion needs a comment made to «the fast track» on the subject, but rather official statements condemning the United Nations, institution guarantor of peace in the world. One would think that this victory of the Burkinabe army over the terrorists in Djibo is not to the liking of the UN and the entire international community.
